Evenlode

A vivid and pungent washed-rind cheese from King Stone Dairy, with a sticky rind giving way to a buttery breakdown and a firm, curdy centre. Flavours are bright and yoghurty at the core, and become more pungent with hints of peanut and even bacon underneath the dusky orange rind.

Min weight 250g.

Made by David Jowett

Chedworth, Gloucestershire

Evenlode takes its name from a village near to Kingstone Dairy, to the north-east of the Cotswolds.

Since late 2019, David Jowett has been making his French-inspired washed rind cheeses on Manor Farm in the Cotswold village of Chedworth, Gloucestershire. The farm's mixed herd feed on pastures planted with plentiful clover and herbal leys, lending their milk an aromatic richness. Evenlode is the only one of David's cheeses to be made with mesophilic starters, which lend it a more pronounced acidic flavour and a bright and chalky core when it's young.

When the cheese arrives with us it is kept wrapped up in one of our cooler maturing rooms until it is ready to be sold.
