Dorchester, Dorset

Since 2018 the farm has planted over 20km of hedgerows and is actively involved in monitoring biodiversity gains.

We first visited Hollis Mead Organic Dairy in March of 2022, when they had recently established an organic, pasture-fed dairy herd along with an on-site dairy producing a Camembert-style and triple cream soft cheese. We put them in touch with French cheese consultant (and friend of NYD) Ivan Larcher and they have set to work perfecting the recipe. While the cheese is still a work in progress, we feel the time is right to add it to our range, particularly as it embodies many of the progressive farming principles that we wish to support. The farm is certified organic and pasture fed which mean no pesticides, herbicides or artificial fertilisers are used anywhere on the farm. In addition, no grains or soya are used in the cows’ diets.
